African Leadership University Scholarship (ALU scholarship) is currently open to eligible and qualified students studying at the African Leadership University Mauritius, Rwanda.
ALU is a full-ride scholarship program awarded to students who demonstrate financial need and great potential for utilizing the scholarship opportunity as a valuable tool for making meaningful impact and contributions to society.
The scholarship program is made accessible to students from different African Countries who are studying at the prestigious University.
To be able to apply for the ALU scholarship, you must first meet the institution’s Admission requirements and provide additional information which will be used to assess your eligibility for the scholarship opportunity.
ALU also offers scholarships for undergraduate programs in entrepreneurial leadership and software engineering. The scholarship opportunity has a limited slot, and not everyone who applies will be selected.

Eligibility Requirements for the ALU Scholarship
For you to be able to apply for the ALU, you must meet the following requirements
- Nationality: The scholarship is open to all students from African Countries.
- Show Financial difficulty: You must showcase a level of financial problems, such as not being able to pay for tuition fees, to be able to apply for this scholarship. This must be backed up with verifiable proof.
- Age Limit: You must not be more than 29 years of age as of the time of applying for the scholarship
- Categories of Individual: The scholarship is not gender-based. It is for all categories of persons: Males, Females, Refugees, displaced individuals, and individuals with physical or learning disabilities.
- Admission: You must meet all admission requirements and currently a bonafide student of the University
- Academic Grade: You must have an exceptional academic record and performance with a strong National Exam Score( at least a B).
- Leadership skill: You must possess a high leadership potential and become an active contributor to the development of the community.

No, you don’t need to pay any amount as an application fee, as registration is done free of charge.

The African Leadership University was founded in 2017 and has its headquarters in Kigali, Rwanda. Its primary aim is to educate the next generation of ethical and entrepreneurial leaders and the world at large.
The University partners with Mastercard and other external bodies to periodically organize scholarship programs for its students across Africa.
You are entitled to apply for a university scholarship once you are applying for admission at the University, provided you indicate your inability to pay your tuition fees during the admission process.
The scholarship and admission application phase for the January 2025 intake has commenced and will end by 1 November 2024. You are therefore advised to apply now to stand a chance of being selected.
ALU applications are open every year with three application deadlines per year. The application journey is divided into two stages.
The first stage is more about you providing more details and information to support your application.
The second stage is the financial assessment stage. This stage will help you understand the financial contribution you will make to support your studies at the University.
Upon completion of the registration process, your application will be screened thoroughly, and if you are selected, you will be notified via email.
The scholarship program only applies to those studying a full-time undergraduate degree program at the University; therefore, you must be physically present to study there.
Before travelling to Rwanda for your study program, ensure you have your study visa and a police clearance report, as these are some of the essential documents needed for your stay in the host country.
The scholarship does not extend to postgraduate studies as the University does not offer such. Therefore, you are to return to your home country immediately after your study program.
