Global Korea Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Global Korea Scholarship;
1. Applicants must hold citizenship of NIIED-designated countries that are invited to participate in the GKS program
2. The Applicants’ parents or legal guardians must be citizens of another country other than Korea. If the applicant or their parents have dual citizenship, one of which is Korean citizenship, such applicants cannot apply for the program. Any applicant who has held Korean citizenship in the past has to submit documentation issued by the Korean government proving they have renounced their Korean citizenship
3. The applicant must have the degree of education required for their program, as stated above.
4. Applicants who are expected to graduate from their previous program by July 31, 2024, can also apply for the program with a certificate of expected graduation. You must submit your official graduation certificate (or diploma) and final academic transcript to the GKS Center, NIIED, by July 31, 2024; otherwise, the acceptance will be canceled.
5. Applicants must graduate with a CGPA of 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5 or 3.23/5.0 and above. Masters degree holders must have a score percentile of 80% or above on a 100-point scale or be ranked in the top 20% of their class. These results should be reflected in their academic transcript, which will be submitted to the school.
6. A person who has previously received a scholarship for a degree program from the Korean government is NOT eligible to apply for the Global Korea scholarship program. Also, you cannot apply for this program if your scholarship has been canceled after enrollment.
Global Korea Scholarship Benefits
The Global Korea Scholarship comes with the following benefits:
- Airfare to and from your home country to the institution of study. Economic class.
- Tuition fee.
- Settlement allowance, monthly allowance, research allowance, Korean Proficiency Grants, Degree completion grants, publication printing fee, etc.
GKS scholars who are accepted into Korean universities on scholarships will be provided with a
Korean language training fee. However, scholars exempted from the Korean language program because they already have some form of proficiency will be automatically given the Korean Proficiency Grants.
