The Zamfara State Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship program for indigenes and residents of Zamfara State who are studying in accredited tertiary institutions.
The Scholarship was initiated by the Zamfara State Government and run by the Zamfara State Scholarship Board, a unit of the Zamfara State Ministry of Education.
The Scholarship aims to support the state’s indigenes to further their studies abroad and provide financial assistance to those studying within the country.
The Scholarship is in two categories:- the international and local Scholarship.
The international Scholarship is for postgraduate studies in some selected universities outside the country while the local Scholarship is for undergraduate students studying any course in an accredited tertiary institution in Nigeria.
The local scholarship category is currently open for application. This scholarship category offers a considerable amount of funds to cover tuition fees, books, accommodation and all other academic needs and expenses throughout your study program.
Students of private universities/ institutions are not eligible to apply for this Scholarship; only students from public universities/ institutions are considered.
Also, candidates who are government employees are not eligible for this Scholarship.

Eligible Requirements for Zamfara State Scholarship
The following are eligible requirements for the Zamfara State Scholarship
- Nationality: The Scholarship is open to citizens of Nigeria who are indigenes and residents of Zamfara state
- Eligible Student: You must be an undergraduate studying at any accredited tertiary institution in Nigeria
- Level of Study: You must be in either your first, second, third, fourth or final year of study
- Academic Grade: You must have an excellent academic grade to stand. Chance of being awarded this Scholarship

Zamfara State Scholarship Board
The Zamfara State Scholarship Board is a unit of the Zamfara State Ministry of Education. It is charged with the primary responsibility of conducting and awarding scholarships to individuals from Zamfara State who are studying within and outside Nigeria.
The Board was established in 1996 to ensure that the educational welfare of its citizens is met.

How will I be Selected for the Zamfara State Scholarship?
You will be selected for the Zamfara State Scholarship based on academic merit, financial needs and other criteria such as leadership potential or community development services.

Final Thought
The Zamfara State Scholarship Board was established in 1996 with the sole aim of helping the state’s citizens attain educational excellence. Since its existence, many students have benefited from the program.
The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Dauda Lawal, Dare, has ordered that the scholarship application phase of this year be made open to support Indigenous students with funds to meet their academic needs.
The scholarship application phase for this year starts on Saturday, July 27th, 2024 and ends on Monday, August 5th, 2024. You, therefore, have a minimum of seven days to apply for this Scholarship before the application window closes; there will be no room for a deadline extension,
You are advised to apply only once, as multiple applications will automatically lead to disqualification
At the scholarship application period, your application will be reviewed by the scholarship screening committee, and if you pass the online phase, you will be invited for a physical screening exercise/verification; you are to go along with the copies of your submitted documents.
Once you’ve passed the physical verification exercise, you will be awarded the Scholarship. Funds will be approved and disbursed to the bank account you filled out during the application period. Ensure you use an active and functional account to access your funds when needed.
As a recipient of the Zamfara State Scholarship, you are required to maintain a good grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.00 throughout your study period, participate in community services or mentorship and provide periodic updates on your academic progress to the scholarship board.
