The Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria, in collaboration with the Government of the Slovak Republic, is inviting interested and qualified Nigerian students to participate in the 2024/2025 Slovakia National Scholarship Program.

The scholarship provides opportunities for students, university teachers, researchers, and artists to carry out their postgraduate programs in Slovakia’s higher education institutions and research organisations.
The Slovakia National Scholarship Program is fully regulated and funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sports of the Slovak Republic.
Before seeking to apply for this scholarship, you must make sure to obtain an admission/invitation letter from the higher education institution or research organization where you intend to carry out your postgraduate studies.
You are to contact them via their email or telephone number, stating the program of study you would like to pursue, your research plans, and the duration of your study program.
The duration of scholarship stay is between a period of 1-10 months approximately for all program categories. Afterwards, you will be required to return to your country.

Benefits of Slovakia National Scholarship
The Slovakia National scholarship provides the following benefits to the selected students
- Monthly allowance of €620 for university students
- Monthly allowance of €1025.50 for PhD students
- Monthly allowance ranging from €1025.50 -€1,470
- Living Cost ( Food and Accommodation)
- Travel Allowance: Travel allowance will be given to you in lump sum at the end of your stay with the last scholarship payment.
The travel grant allowance payment will depend on the distance between your place of residence and the host institution. Here is a breakdown of the amount that will be paid to you as travel allowance based on distance

Eligibility Requirements for the Slovakia National Scholarship
The Slovakia National scholarship is available to three categories of applicants:- The Masters, PhD students and University teachers, researchers/ artists. For you to get awarded scholarship to any of these categories, you must meet the following requirements
- You must be a university student outside Slovakia
- If you applying to the master student category, you must be a student who have completed at least 2.5 years of study as of the time of application
- For PhD studies, you must have engaged in higher education or scientific training abroad
- If you are applying as a University Teacher, Researcher or Artist, you must be a person who is invited by the Slovakia institution with a certificate of eligibility to carry out a research and development project in the country.

How to Apply for the Slovakia National Scholarship
Following the guidelines explained below to apply for the scholarship program with ease
- Visit Application Portal: Visit the scholarship application portal to start the registration process.
- Select Program Category: You are to select the program category you want to enrol for.
- Create an Account: After selecting the program category of your choice, you are to create an account by filling the form displayed on the page..
- Account Verification: Login to the email you used for the application and verify your registered account. Failure to verify it within 14 days will lead to the closure of that account.
- Fill application form: fill in your personal and academic information correctly
- Upload documents: Upload the necessary documents listed above in PDF format
- Submit application: After successfully filling your details and uploading the relevant documents, review your application thoroughly in order to make any corrections and submit for review.
Final Thought
The Slovakia National Scholarship is not available for international students who are receiving scholarships from other scholarship programs in Slovakia.
When applying for the scholarship, you are only allowed to fill out the online form and submit the required documents in Slovak or English language.
If you are an applicant from a non-English speaking country, ensure that you have them translated before submission.
At the end of the application process, a selection committee will be appointed by the Minister of Education, Science, Research, and Sports of the Slovak Republic to oversee the evaluation and selection process.
The committee focuses its selection process on: the reasons why you have decided to study, teach, conduct research, or engage in artistic activities in Slovakia; your program of study; your professional and personal qualities; and your fit with the host institution.
There will be no interview; the selection committee will assess you based on what you have written in your application and your attached documents.
The scholarship payment is made monthly. The administrators will start paying you once they receive your bank account details and confirmation of your scholarship period.
The application deadline for this scholarship is on the 30th of April 2024. It is advisable to complete the online application form before that date to avoid rejection due to network glitches.
